Wired Differently Festival

Wired Differently Festival is an inclusive, welcoming event bringing together neurodivergent people, families, professionals, organisations and the wider community for a day of connection, activities, entertainment and understanding.

Created by Wired Differently Sensory Seekers CIC, the festival is built around one simple belief:

Change environments, not people.

This isn’t about asking people to fit in, behave differently or mask who they are. It’s about creating a space where people can take part in a way that works for them.

What to expect

Throughout the festival you’ll find a mix of activities, entertainment, information and opportunities to get involved.

Expect things such as:

  • Interactive activities and games

  • Sensory and fidget resources

  • Creative activities

  • Family entertainment

  • Community organisations and support services

Who is it for?

Everyone.

You do not need a diagnosis and you do not need to identify as neurodivergent to attend.

The festival is for children, teenagers, adults, parents, carers, families, friends, educators, employers, professionals and anyone who wants to be part of a more understanding and inclusive community.

Inclusion that goes beyond saying “everyone is welcome”

We want people to be able to feel the difference.

The festival is designed with neurodivergent needs in mind, considering the five Wired Differently strategies:

Clarity We make the day easier to understand with clear information, signage and expectations so people can know what is happening, where to go and what to expect.

Movement We create space for people to move, explore and take part in activities without the expectation to sit still or stay in one place.

Regulation We provide opportunities to step away, pause and reset, recognising that people may need breaks from noise, crowds or activity throughout the day.

Sensory Awareness We consider the sensory impact of the festival with differences in spaces.

Communication We recognise that people communicate and process information differently, so there is no pressure to make eye contact, speak, respond quickly or interact in a particular way.
